Door Won't Open in Chester-le-Street
Not every Chester-le-Street door that will not open is a broken lock. Our house-sitting job was keys posted through the letterbox: the door was opened without damage, the keys were picked up off the mat and no new lock was needed (read the job).
When the lock itself is at fault, it is usually the gearbox or the keep. In Sacriston the bottom keep had moved out of line with the deadbolt and was refitted lower, after which the door locked smoothly (read the job). Mechanism repairs are covered on uPVC door lock repair in Chester-le-Street.
We cover the whole Chester-le-Street area for this service, including Great Lumley, Ouston, Pelton, Pelton Fell, Plawsworth, Urpeth and Waldridge.

Common Reasons a Door Won't Open
A door that will not open usually comes down to one of a small number of causes: a worn or failed gearbox inside a uPVC door (the most common cause we see), the keep or strike plate shifting slightly out of alignment as a door settles over time, a swollen door frame in wet weather catching on the door, a faulty cylinder, or a dropped hinge putting the door out of true.
Each of these has a different fix, and most do not need the whole door or lock replacing — diagnosing the actual cause first means you only pay for the part that is genuinely faulty.
